Wednesday’s ramble: August, The Hierophant, and readings that stick out.

So August is nearly upon us. It’s funny how time flies when you’re underemployed. My industry took a beating because of COVID-19. I don’t think the beauty industry will ever be the same. So, I’m doing like all the other divination woke folk are doing. I’m looking for anything. Well, a lot of us are looking for anything. As my friend Laurie, over at Woke Astrology says, we have months, not years, to get our shit together. So I’ll reiterate, as I always do, December 17th. The shit begins hitting the fan again, starting December 17th.

But, hey – August- full moon. Right. This full moon, also known as The Sturgeon Moon and The Moon When All Things Ripen, is in Aquarius. Peculiar things will be afoot. More peculiar than all of 2020? Who knows, but I’ve got my keto snacks all ready.

You know what, let’s do a core chart for August 2020. Why not? Let’s pretend that August is a person. I think August as a person is a little bit of a hipster, but that’s just me. So the August 2020 core chart would look like this:

Life path 12/3

Expression 13/4

Heart 7

Destiny 20/2

First I’ll just say that if you’ve got a Pythagorean, Chaldean, or Vedic number/letter chart you may be scratching your head at my math. I use a chart system that assigns numerical value to phonetic sounds, not letters in the alphabet. My numbers probably won’t match yours. In fact, since August really isn’t a person and can’t say their name, I’m going with August as pronounced by me, in as bland an accent as I could muster.

So 2020 August is setting itself up to learn about finding joy and happiness in odd places. This is where you need to read between the lines with energy patterns. In order to find joy and happiness in odd places, the standard places don’t apply. So if you’ve been finding joy and happiness at work, you might not find it there this month. Perhaps you find zero joy in repetitive things like doing the recycling, but maybe this month you’ll enjoy the mindlessness that comes with tearing the foil off of KCups and dumping the coffee in the compost bin. It could happen.

In general this is a spirit of self expression and great creativity. Again, reading between the lines. How do you express yourself? How are you creative? Generally speaking, when qualities appear as descriptors for any temporary vibration, it means you’ll have to cultivate them and if you don’t, the universe has a quaint way of continually putting you in situations where you will learn to cultivate said qualities. August 2020 is a happy month and this doesn’t surprise me, most of August is ruled by Leo, who loves a good party. But August’s undercurrent is 12, a number of willing and passive sacrifice. Now I’d have to look at an individual’s numbers to see how they’d fare out this month, but in general, August 2020’s underlying energy is about living in the moment and not trying to help anything move any faster than it is on its own. While also simultaneously cultivating creativity and the ability to find joy in odd places. Ahem.

The August Expression is 13/4. It puts out some heavy duty karmic energy. To understand 13/4 as a karmic number, read The Grasshopper and The Ant. Spoiler alert: you should really be the ant in this scenario. The Heart of August is 7. The thing that August really wants you to do is dissect and analyze everything that you see and hear. Seven is a quirky, odd number that loves science and puzzles, but also meditation and mysticism. August’s Destiny Number is 20/2.  While 2 wants to dive in and get messy, 20 as an underlying ruler is more detached. Backing away from things, practising mindfulness, meditating, detaching, moving on but also being happy, finding joy, and exploring self expression?

If August was a person, they’d be one of those weird artsy fartsy types that lives really well in spite of having no visible means of income.

Synopsis: August 2020 isn’t going to be as heavy and depressing as some of the other months, as long as you get out of your own way and let shit unfold.

The Hierophant

I’ve been seeing this guy pop up a lot in readings. The Hierophant is a curious card. If I look at him strictly in Tarot terms, he’s the patriarchy. Ruled by Taurus, a dude in gold robes with altar boys in front of him? Thank god those aren’t the cards I use and the interpretations that I’ve picked up over the years. But, let’s face it, I could have fun with that.

Numerologically speaking, five is all about the physical world and the five senses. In numerology five is ruled by Mercury. As a temporary vibration this number is about change, communication, experiencing all the things, a life well lived, hedonism, education, and travel. Five is also a number obsessed with FREEDOM.

It’s showing up a lot these days in readings, in the FEARS position. The opposite of all that the five stands for is: narrow mindedness. Not telling your story. Staying in. Not learning. Giving up your freedom. Letting The Man tell you what to do. Keeping your knees firmly locked together. Lots of us worry about giving up our freedoms. Lots of us worry about having them, at the same time that we worry about losing them. Lots of us are afraid to leave the house at the same time that we are afraid to not be working. Lots of us are horny as hell but the thought of being naked in the room with someone and their potentially contagious, potentially covid laced secretions just fills us full of OH HELL NO.

When the Canadian government is advising people to have sex with gloryholes, you know it’s some strange ass times we are living in. Only in Canada, eh? *Squints at my government*

Monday ramble, COVID-19, The Tower, The Chariot, and The Lovers

This is me rambling. If I was feeling fancy, I’d call it a stream of consciousness session. If I was old school, I’d call it automatic writing. I am feeling neither fancy nor old school, having just run my coffee machine sans coffee mug. That’s a sound that made me forget that I have stiff joints in the morning.

I set my grumbling aside and did my day one of Deepak Chopra’s 21 Days To Abundance. My friend Julie is running this as a group program and I thought, “Eh, why not” when she invited me. I’m only at the beginning so I have no earth shattering insights to share. I did laugh a little after I was done, though. The previous evening another friend posted one of those “intuitive speller” memes on her astrology page and I did it:

I’m laughing because participation in a Deepak Chopra program feels like wading straight into the new age woo, removing my floaties, and tempting fate in the deep end. We’ll see. If I start to develop a craving for PinkBerry, or hashtags like #bossbabe show up in my social media, then I’m probably beyond help and you should just walk away. But hey, according to Kat I have the universe on speed dial so we’ll see.
Rambling on……
In early January I was doing predictive timelines and forecasting for people that I knew. Now I use Tarot cards as a visual aid to my number charts because it’s hard for people to look at a list of numbers and say, “Oh yeah, I can totally see the uphill climb I’ll be having at work in February.” A nice artsy deck with lots of pictures and bright juicy colours is much easier to use. “Ok, so I’m going to be like that guy with all those sticks, fighting off the other guys trying to come up the hill.”  Much, much easier.
Anyway!
I was seeing a lot – a lot – of really crappy numbers. I know, I know, we aren’t supposed to say there are crappy numbers but there are and you know it and I know it. Anyway, I was seeing a greater than normal amount of numbers that related to the fives in the Tarot, as well as the ever popular Three of Swords, Nine of Swords, The Tower, and Death. In talking to others who work as astrologers and other assorted purveyors of the divinatory arts, I came to the conclusion like they did, that something shitty was about to happen. To everyone. Everywhere.
Now we aren’t supposed to be that lofty as Technicians of the Sacred. We are supposed to be “for entertainment purposes only”. We aren’t supposed to be “right” because then we could be also be “wrong” and in a litigious Western culture being right or wrong could get us into trouble, depending on the client in the moment. Needless to say, we started doing things: stocking up, paring down bills, moving investments to safer plans if we had those, getting our shit together. We told friends. Mostly we were ignored. Mainly, as I remember it, because I couldn’t tell anyone EXACTLY what was going to happen. I just knew that my friends with cancer were going to have interruptions to their health care that would affect them over the long term. I just knew that my friends asking about investments were going to have a lot of issues. I just knew that those asking about their their careers were going to be in receipt of a lot of government assistance and/or retraining. A lot of my friends were going to suddenly end careers. None of we Technicians of the Sacred could look at our tools and interpret from this that there would be a global pandemic that would upend the world economy, cause spikes in homelessness, addictions, and domestic violence, cause vital health care resources like coronary care, cancer care, and transplants to be shut down as money/staff was diverted to fight a virus potentially worse than the Spanish Flu. With a civil rights movement sprinkled on top, no less. But boy howdy, do we now have a divinatory frame of reference for such fuckery. I hope all you readers, astrologers, etc were taking notes this year.
I’m remembering all this because I noticed something in my readings today – that everyone’s numbers and cards have shifted in the last four weeks. Astrologically we’ve been given a breather until mid December. So enjoy it now and stock up bitches, because Saturn rolls back into Aquarius this December for more global frivolity and havoc until March 2023.
But yes, the shift in numbers. Rambling, remember?
I’ve gone from seeing a star studded review of EVERY SHITTY CARD IN THE DECK to The Chariot, The Lovers, and Judgement. Eights and Aces have replaced the fives. People are assuming new roles as Helpers (The Lovers) and Leaders (The Chariot). They’re shifting and graduating away from their old lives and into completely new ones (Judgement). They’re not fighting amongst themselves or crying and rocking back and forth on their couch (the fives) but instead they’re realizing the power of goodbye and the illusion of what they must do or think (the eights). If you’re wondering where all this comes from, when I read cards, I get clients to randomly pick a specified amount of numbers from 1-78. Then I pull the corresponding cards. I read the numbers as they are expressed through the cards. It shocks the shit out of  people that they chose numbers relating to exactly what is going on in their lives. I like this better than shuffling because people tend not to focus when they shuffle. I still do the old school shuffle now and then, and even those clients are getting the same results.
Now this doesn’t mean that people aren’t still struggling. I’ve read for clients all over the world and their struggles, while different, are very real and ongoing. But things ARE shifting. We are only in the beginning, FYI, this process will take a few years and by the time Aquarius does leave Saturn for another few decades, some of y’all are going to know why your grandmother flicked the crumbs off her parchment paper, folded it carefully, and put it away.
Ramble done.
And now for more café.

The Fool People

These folks are the Mr. McGoos of the world. They’re full of faith, trust, and naïveté. They step out into the world everyday, blind to many things, believing that all will just be OK, because…well….why wouldn’t it be?

These are the people who believe there’s a plan for them. They just go along with things, happily trusting that “God knows” or “the Universe has a plan”. Their ability to trust the process and others around them boggles we jaded bitches.

A lot of the time, though, these people experience huge letdowns when they get out into the world. They zoom passively along on happy thoughts and good intentions until BOOM. The brick wall of reality knocks them square in their ass.

Confronted with disillusionment and loss, these folks break down. They’re looking for someone to save them, when they need to look in the mirror. The stereotypical “Millennial Meltdown” comes to mind but it can happen to anyone of any generation.

The World People

These are the folks who believe that there are always options open to them. They want to explore all that is there and they don’t take no for an answer. For these folks life is a kaleidoscope and the universe is multidimensional. If they don’t like their reality, they know that other realities exist so they change course to invite the possibility.

World people are folks whose eyes have been opened. They’ve experienced greater awareness. They understand their privilege. They want to use their power for good. World people want to embrace everything. Maybe they’ve had a breakthrough in therapy, maybe they’ve had a spiritual awakening or just survived the impossible. Maybe they poured coconut oil on their life, who knows. They’re the most positive people you know.

But no one is full of joie de vivre all the time, are they? On a shitty day, being open to everything means embracing nothing. It’s being the most magnetic person in the room but connecting with no one. It’s the paralysis that comes with wanting to privilege someone or something but being afraid to because you want everyone and everything to be equal. For those who are genuinely woke, it’s the crushing, depressing responsibility that comes with this newfound awareness.

Judgement People

This card refers to people who have graduated and moved on to other things in life. They may have been promoted, retired, or even laid off. They may be the divorced person who starts dating again. They could be hitting puberty, experiencing menopause, getting a driver’s license, or a degree. They could be someone who has recently completed a medical transition.

If this is someone you’ve known a while, you may be seeing them off on the next part of their journey. If this is someone new to you, you may be part of their transition or a character in their next chapter. These people see clearly. They’re embracing changes in their lives and looking forward to the future. They might be winging it, but chances are good that they have a plan.

At the crappy end of the spectrum, they have experienced forced retirement, early buyouts, or an unexpected lay off. They may be grappling with disability. This Justice person is experiencing new things they didn’t want. They’re trying to rationalize a shit sandwich. Instead of embracing physical changes they become dysphoric or dysmorphic. They’re reluctant to start over or see themselves in a new light. They are closed to this new phase of life.

The Sun People

These are the folks that can breathe new life into things. Trying to revitalize a stale career? Got writer’s block? Looking to make a comeback? Sun people will help you with that.

Sun people are motivational speakers, the PR people, the HR folks that bring things back on track. They’re the wise drunk girl in the the ladies’ room who encourages you to fix your hair and keep dancing. These folks renew our enthusiasm and help us make adjustments when we feel stuck.

On the flip side, these folks can be the false prophets of happiness. The life coaches who haven’t lived. The superficial believers who don’t walk their walk. The folks who project unattainable beliefs. They are dilettantes who show up for the party but don’t stay to clean up. The toxic happy people – “just be positive!”

The Moon People

Moon people are insightful. They give feedback, both positive and negative. They are a source of guidance. They are the people that give you a point of consideration that no one else has. They see patterns that others miss.

Sometimes our Moon people aren’t physically present. For those who delve into the mystical, their Moon people could be ancestors or spirit guides. Sometimes our Moon people are mediums. Often they’re simply the ones that know who we are inside.

It’s good to remember that the moon creates illusion. On a shitty day these are the folks telling us what we want to hear. They can be the ones pulling the strings in the background, manipulating events for their own ends. Sometimes they’re assholes because they’re bored.

Less malicious and more irritating are the flaky pastries among us that see signs and omens in everything. They manifest anxiety and are the weekend dabblers in shake n bake mysticism.

The Star People

Star people are the finders and manifestors. If they don’t possess the money, skill, or resource that you need, they can certainly find it. They have a finger on the pulse of the universe. Their faith and optimism makes manifestation look effortless. After all those a Tower people, they’re a welcome respite

These are your right hand people. You don’t know what you’d do without them. They rock at directing resources and coordinating everyone and everything. Like Miss Moneypenny, they know just what is needed and they save your ass. When Star people go on vacation they are desperately missed at the office.

Like Miss Moneypenny, these folks also know all your weaknesses. Never forget that 17 reduces to 8. If ever they decide that they’re done cleaning up your mess, they feel taken for granted, or they’re not getting credit for all they do – and they do know what they do – Star people can knock you right back down. They know where the money goes and they know what had to go into getting you elected/promoted/noticed. The day they decide to flip the switch, you’re going down, bitch.

The Tower People

These are the people who shatter existing beliefs and stomp all over the status quo. They are the activists and reformers, rebels, and freedom fighters. They are the artists that provoke with their work. The whistle blowers that shine light onto the darkness in the system. Tower people are badass light bringers.

The ultimate catalyst for change, they aren’t here to be liked or to wait nicely for you to come around. Often dysfunctional and full of isms, these are the folks holding their bloody guts in their hands to show you how the world really is.

Tower people are done being nice. They’re done being victims, if that was their life. They’re done upholding a system that keeps a boot on their face. Their garden of fucks is empty and goddamnit, you people are going to listen.

The Devil People

These folks are the ones who set boundaries and limits. They take on responsibility for things and will do it their way. They value structure and rules. Orderly events are preferred. They do not want their boundaries tested and will clearly state their needs.

These are the designated drivers of life. The starters AND finishers. The people who show up early, stay late, and work hard in between. These folks actually read the manual. They’re practical, authoritative, and mostly predictable.

On a crappy day these are the folks who will not budge on anything. They’re on that hill and that’s where they’ll die. They can become narrow minded dictators. There’s also the potential for destructive rules or policies, and harsh punishments. Never forget, these folks read all the fine print that you did not and The Devil loves a good loophole.
